If the tank plug is identified to get missing throughout the pump-out system, the operator can replace it and stop the tank from draining into the soil around the tank.  A conventional decentralized wastewater treatment system includes a septic tank along with a trench or mattress subsurface wastewater infiltration system, called a drainfield.
